Fleurieu Peninsula Attractions

Life’s an adventure

Less than an hour south of Adelaide, indulge your love for waves, water, whales and wine on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The variety of things to do is exhilarating. That’s before you’ve waxed your board or baited a line.

Surfing at Middleton Beach, South Australia

Surf, fish, dive, snorkel, sail, play golf, whale-watch, go hot-air ballooning, fly in historic biplanes, ride an old steam engine, go kayaking and check out some art galleries. Yes! Eat and drink!

Surf

If you surf (or always wanted to), then get down here. There are beginners’ lessons at Middleton and Goolwa, where the waves also ramp up nicely for experienced surfers.

Southport, Boomer Beach, Waitpinga and Chiton Rocks whip up some excellent breaks for serious surfers.

Spot a whale

Between May and October, whale watchers flock to Fleurieu Peninsula to watch the giant southern right whales before they head back to Antarctica with their newborn calves.

Port Elliot, Middleton and Victor Harbor provide some excellent vantage points.

If you go to Victor Harbor, make sure you drop in to the South Australian Whale Centre. You can call the sightings information line to see where the whales are blowing.

Prepare to dive

The Fleurieu Peninsula’s stormy past means divers have several choices. Try the shipwrecks near Rapid Bay (HMAS Hobart) and off Port Willunga (Star of Greece) and the reefs off Port Noarlunga, Aldinga, Second Valley and Victor Harbor.

Hit the links

Golfers of all ages will find somewhere to hit a ball on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

From championship courses to links golf, many have spectacular ocean views. The Links Lady Bay Resort and McCracken Country Club in Victor Harbor also offer top quality accommodation.

For the kids, try Victor Harbor’s mini golf and the Greenhills Adventure Park water slides.

Tour the galleries
